Dear native English speakers,
would you please check another problem? Would my question make sense?

The name "universal design" was introduced in the 1980s by an American professor, Ronald L. Mace. He himself used a wheelchair. His idea was that places and things should be easy for everyone to use.
If you read his "Principles of Universal Design," you can understand more clearly his way of thinking. His basic idea was that things should be designed so that all people-young, old, disabled, not disabled-can use them. In addition, he thought that a design should be simple to understand. That means everyone should be able to use places or products easily without having experience, knowledge, or language ability.
Another of his principles was low physical effort. This means that people should be able to use places or products with the least amount of physical energy. New schools have been built using Mace's ideas of universal design. They are good places to see the design in practice. There you can find wide automatic doors, light switches that are bigger than usual, and elevators to help people go from one floor to another.

Q. Choose one that agrees with the passage above.
(a) The name "universal design" was introduced in the 19th century by an American professor.
(b) The idea of universal design is for disabled people.
(c) Ronald L. Mace could move anywhere without using a wheelchair.
(d) Ronald L. Mace thought that people should be able to use places or products with ease.

Thanks in advance.

Answer (a) does not test if your students understood the content of the passage; it tests if they know the meaning of "19th century", which is a term that was not used in the passage. It is therefore not an optimal choice for an incorrect answer.

Also, do all of your students know the word "sentence"? If so, "Choose the sentence that agrees with the passage above" is more natural than what you wrote, but what you wrote is OK if you prefer to keep it as is.

Thanks for the help, joadbres. Most of the students who will take this exam should know what "century" means. So I think Choice (a) can be kept.

Thanks for the correction. Yes. Most of them know the word "sentence". But all the questions are given in Japanese.
