Context:
君の研究が一段楽したこと…
僕もとても嬉しいよ。
I can't seem to figure out what "一段楽したこと" means or what it's doing here in this sentence.
The only thing I fully understand in this sentence is "僕もとても嬉しいよ。" and "君の研究が..."
My guess just based on the context was "The fact that your study is over/finished/has come to an end...
I'm very happy, too." but whether or not I have the right idea, I'm not sure...
I came across "一段落着いた" earlier in what I was reading and thought perhaps it was similar to this "一段楽した"? And maybe it had more of a sense of "calmed/settled down" or even "reached its end" as I think 楽にする can mean "to relax"?
