Today a girl who I've been chatting with on Skype for some time called me out of the blue. I was busy at that time and told her "maybe later". She then started asking "when?", "why not now?" etc.
I inquired: 「なぜいきなりそんなに話したがってるの?」 Upon re-reading my message, I'm not sure, but something seems off to me. 語感の問題っていうか、違和感があるっていうかw Does this sentence sound "unnatural' to you? Or am I just imagining stuff? Can I use 「いきなり」 with a continuing state in the first place?
I can use -たい for interrogative sentences, but in this case if I ask 「なぜいきなりそんなに話したくなったの?」 I'm not asking whether she wants to or not, but stating that she DOES WANT TO and asking why so suddenly. So, in theory, it would be grammatically incorrect.
