Hello everyone.

あるしょくぶつははなをつけません。 What is the meaning of this sentence? 「ある植物」 I interpret as "some plants", while 「花をつけない」 leaves me wondering. Could the meaning perhaps be "some plants do not have flowers"? I would greatly appreciate an deconstruction of this sentence.

Thank you. Peace.

EDIT: Mistake.

So, 「つける」means "to attach"/ "to affix" then. Thank you.

Will「ある木はりんごをつける」work for "some trees have apples"?

It sounds odd because trees that have apples are all apple trees. That's the same that ある植物はバラの花をつけません。 "Some plants do not have rose flowers" is non-sense. ある木は実をつけます works fine for "Some trees have/bear/produce fruits".

Thank you for your explanation, Toritoribe.
