Did somebody try to reserve a renal car on a Japanese web site like ekiren.co.jp? It's not about language problems but residence requirements, non-Japanese driver license numbers, etc.

Large rental companies (Toyota) have English web sites, but their rates are probably twice higher than it should be. It's not possible to use any discounts/coupons. Until recently, I used ToCoo, but they started to charge additional 800 Yen per a day now. Looking for alternatives...

The first thing I thought was 14 years old seems young to be renting a car , LOL. Everyone's still asleep in Japan , hopefully you will get some good answers when they get on line. Welcome to JREF.

Why is a 14 year old Canadian kid asking about renting cars in Japan?

Japanese kids start traveling early :)
Once I had seen a 5-year girl at Shin-Osaka station going somewhere with a suitcase on wheels...

Once you had seen that then what?

OldDodge.jpg This is the old dinosaur I drove back and forth to work in while stationed in Fukuoka in 70&71. It felt like steering an aircraft carrier in a small swimming pool. I had to take my driving test on a 10 wheel dual axle stake bed truck.

And then nothing. Japan is very safe country and parents are not required to accompany kids to school until 12 like in US/Canada. And actually I asked about renting a car on Japanese web sites...

I must have been confused by your misuse of the past perfect tense.

I had no idea American parents were required to accompany children under twelve to school. When did this start?

And actually I asked about renting a car on Japanese web sites...

And we're still wondering why a fourteen year old child is asking such a thing.

Sorry, my native language is not English.

I thought that entering my birthday as 01/01/01 is a polite way to tell that my age is not everybody's concern. Your age, Mike, is actually not shown in the profile.

In my first message I already explained why I need such a thing. It allows me to save some money on my next trip and also it's very interesting experience to navigate Japanese web pages using my limited knowledge and online translators. Just yesterday I booked tickets from Hakata to Busan on JR Beetle "English" web site. After a click on "Vacant Seats Review" it goes 100% Japanese. By booking in advance, I saved about $50 per a ticket.

Your English is near perfect. That particular error is very common among native speakers. Your English is otherwise so excellent that I think it safe to blame the influence of native speakers for you picking up their bad habit.

That is a popular and adorable show. But the link still leaves me in the dark about American parents being required to escort their children to school.

No, it just raises suspicions. We sometimes get first posts from freshly joined members which are thinly disguised attempts to advertise a business or website. Your first post contained the name and web address of a specific business and you created a suspiciously bogus profile. Mostly I have been engaging you to determine if you are for real or a spammer. (A spammer would have gone away).

My age is 49. I choose not to display my age in my profile, mostly because I don't want a computer-prompted Happy Birthday thread.

I wish I could help, but I've only rented a vehicle once in Japan, and that was a truck I got by going directly to the rental company.
