Hello

Last year I have seen news about Obtaining Japanese Permanent Residency in ONE year through Highly Skilled Professionals Visas if you have 80 required points.
It was written everywhere to take place in March 2017.
However, I have called in and they said it hasn't been official yet and refused to give any further insights on the subject.
I wonder if anyone knowledgeable in this subject can shed light here?

Thanks!

I haven't heard of this, either. Googling...............

This article says steps will be in place by end of March 2017. This one, too.
Asahi News, too.
Japan Times talked about the "plans", too.

Tokyo Weekender has an article with a link which says look at a further link that just circles back to the original article. Same old news.

So far, I don't think this has happened.

Very interesting. I should have around 115 pts by the time I finish my PhD. Planning to continue directly to assist. prof. (if possible), or else post-doc, so this looks pretty doable (if I end up wanting permanent residency).
