There's a German legal term called "Nachbarschaftsrecht" (neighbourhood law) indicating how virulent conflicts among neighbours are in Germany for instance. Lawyers are able to make a good living from such "fence fights".

I was astonished to read that such things also existed in Japan:

2 shot dead, 1 hurt in neighborhood feud

=> The Asahi Shimbun

Considering the fact that arms possession is extremely restrictive in Japan I am also wondering how someone is allowed to own a shotgun.
:confused:

In Hokkaido it's possible to own rifles, shot-guns for hunting purposes. Bear and Deer. They shoot bears that wonder to close to schools and kill off the deer to prevent over population. Apparently, they are highly tracked by the police with yearly checks or something like that.

Many fights up here are due to snow falling off one's house and damaging the house next door. Which is why most of the house are now flat roofed with a heater like system to melt away the snow.

Sounds very sophisticated, wow. As long as it helps to decrease shotgun incidents...
