Dear native English speakers,
Which sentence(s) would be used?
(a) I will have seen this movie ten times if I see it next time.
(b) I will have seen this movie ten times if I see it another time.
(c) I will have seen this movie ten times if I see it again.

Thanks in advance.
Hirashin

(b) and (c) are fine.

In general, (a) is unnatural, although it might be possible to create a context (preceding sentences) where it might be OK.

Thanks for the help, joadbres. English is always puzzling me. (Am I making sense?)

Hirashin,

Unfortunately, you left out the best answer, "one more time."
"I will have seen this movie ten times if I see it one more time."

Let's look at the translations:

(a)
if I see it next time…
もし今度見れば…

(b)
if I see it another time… (This sounds a little strange.)
もう一度見れば…

The English here sounds a little strange. It sounds like "if I see it at another time…" (違う時見れば…). Because of this, it is confusing.

(c)
if I see it again…
また見れば…

Of the three examples above (or my "new example"), which usage is most common in Japanese?

~~~
And, what is the best way to say "I will have seen this movie ten times" in Japanese? How about:
この映画を十回見た事あるでしょう。
(I am not sure how to handle future perfect "未来の現在完了形??" in Japanese.)
Thanks for the help, Buntaro. You are learning Japanese!
"I will have seen this movie ten times if I see it one more time."
Oh, is that most common?
Of the three examples above (or my "new example"), which usage is most common in Japanese?
In Japanese, we say もう一度[/一回]見れば/見たら, 今度(また)見たら/見れば etc...
And, what is the best way to say "I will have seen this movie ten times" in Japanese? How about:
この映画を十回見た事あるでしょう。
(I am not sure how to handle future perfect "未来の現在完了形??" in Japanese.)
We don't say that. We would say この映画を十回見たことになる/なります。
未来完了形(will have + past participle) would usually be translated into "~したことになる".
Hope this helps.
Hirashin
