Hi,

1. 「まんず、イッチ番先にヒッポグリフについて知らなけ ればなんねえことは ... 」

a) What is まんず?

b) I suppose イッチ is for emphasis?

2. 「こいつのそばまで歩いてゆく。そんでもってお辞儀す る。」

I know that そんでもって = それでもって, but what is its purpose here? Is it an emphatic form of それで?

3. 「こいつがお辞儀を返したら、触ってもいいっちゅうこ った。もしお辞儀を返さなんだら、... 」

a) Is っちゅうこった = っていうことだ?

b) Is 返さなんだら a dialect way of saying 返さなかったら?

4. おいおい、一枚看板のお前が来れないんじゃ、今日の合 コン盛り上がらないよ。

Is there an implied "if" here, i.e. "if you don't come..."?

5. それの価格を5%値引きしていただけるのでしたら、発 注しようと思います。

The English translation given for this is "We will only consider placing an order if you reduce the price by 5%." Does the Japanese contain any sense of the "only" present in the English?

1) a)
a rural dialect of まず

b)
I think it's for adding rural nuance.

2) 3) a) b)
Yes.

4)
Unlike 来れなきゃ, 来れないと or 来れないなら, "you don't come" is a fact already decided in お前が来れないんじゃ, so it doesn't imply "if".

5)
No, I don't think so. 値引きしていただかなければ / いただかない限り、発注しません is equivalent to that translation. Although these kind of "strong" expressions are rarely or almost never used in real buisinesss scenes.

Thanks Toritoribe. I think that (4) and (5) are slightly faulty translations (in one direction or the other).
