Yamaman Corporation (山万株式会社) is a real estate agent, developer and railway operator with operations in Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures in Japan and outside Japan. Its head office is located in Nihonbashi Koamicho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. The company was founded in Osaka in February 1951 as a textile wholesaler. In September 1965, the head office was relocated to Tokyo. In the 1960s, the company entered the housing land development business and began selling Shonan Highland, a large-scale housing complex in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, in January 1968. In 1971, the company took over this know-how. It began developing Eucalyptus Hill in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture, followed by the opening of the new Yamaman Eucalyptus Hill Line transport system in 1982 and the start of construction of Chiba Prefecture's first high-rise condominium in 1988. Since the beginning of the Heisei era, the company has been involved not only in residential land development and sales but also in all town-related businesses, including the development of hotels, cinema complexes and pedestrian decks connecting these commercial facilities in front of stations, and the operation of welfare facilities, licensed nurseries and security businesses through affiliated companies, The company continues to develop Eucalyptus Hill as an 'urban development company'. In recent years, the company has developed electric buses and introduced the HEMS (Home Energy Management System), among others. The company became a restructuring sponsor in the business hotel chain Hokke Club, which went bankrupt in 1997 and concluded corporate reorganisation proceedings in September 2008. It still operates as an associated company. As Yamaman's first overseas venture, it also serves a hotel in Yangon, a leading city in Myanmar—member operator of the Japan Association of Private Railways.
