Kakogawa (加古川市, Kakogawa-shi) is a city located in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. The city was founded on 15 June 1950. It is located near the Kako River's point and flows into the Seto Inland Sea. As of1 September 2016, the city has an estimated population of 266,433. The city offers easy access to Himeji (about 10 minutes), Kobe (about 30 minutes) and Osaka (about 50 minutes) by JR Line. Katsumeshi is a speciality of Kakogawa. The dish is essentially a beef cutlet served on top of a plate of rice with demi-glace sauce.
